Hudson Horror Show 14: 35mm Film Festival Announcement

"The Rules of Hudson Horror Show" Trailer:

Official press release:

Hudson Horror Show #14, the Hudson Valley’s only 12-hour 35mm retro movie marathon will take place December 3rd, 2016 at the South Hills Cinema 8 in Poughkeepsie, NY. Limited tickets are on sale now and are just $38.00 in advance and only available at www.hudsonhorror.com. We’ll have six movies, all projected off 35mm film!

The show just got far more brutal as we are proud and well a little scared to let everyone know that the latest addition to our fall show is… 1978’s horror/exploitation classic I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE!

Starring the beautiful Camille Keaton and produced and directed in 1978 by Meir Zarchi, this movie is so violent that it was still named by TIME in 2010 as one of their Top 10 Most Ridiculously Violent Movies ever! Critic Roger Ebert reviewed the movie and claimed it to be the “worst film ever made” and said that it was a “vile bag of garbage”. The vicious and stomach turning gang rape, the violent and brutal castration and murder scenes are so intense that the complete version of the film is still banned in England and Ireland to this day! Can YOU sit through it all?

We are very excited to be presenting a 30th anniversary screening of THE HITCHER! Three decades back this great little stalk and slash road picture didn’t make much of a splash at the box office, but it became a cable TV staple in the late 80’s and early 90’s. See Rutger Hauer and C. Thomas Howell (in whiteface) in their greatest roles!

The trailer at our last show was met with thunderous applause so we knew we had to track down one of the last know surviving film prints of the original DEATH RACE 2000! Forget the sanitized remake, nothing can compare to David Carradine, Sylvester Stallone and Mary Woronov running people over cross country in this futuristic sci fi classic!

Jordan Garren, that maniac from the B Movie Film Vault, presents one of our two fisted headliners, THE HOWLING! Directed by Joe Dante and starring Dee Wallace, Patrick Macnee and Robert Picardo, THE HOWLING still stands tall as one of the greatest werewolf movies of all time. The special effects of Rob Bottin always looked great on TV, but trust us; the transformation scenes need to be watched on the big screen!

Our second headliner also features the wizardry of the Maestro Rob Bottin and that is 1987’s ROBOCOP! Yeah, we know all of the sequels and remakes sucked, but Director Paul Verhoeven’s cyborg movie is a five star masterpiece! Seriously, this movie is damn near perfect. You’ll run out of the theater yelling lines like “I’ll buy that for a dollar”, “I work for Dick Jones” and “Your move Creep”!

We will also have the ever-enigmatic MYSTERY MOVIE!! Will it be a slasher classic? Maybe we will show another terrible rubber monster movie? We are keeping tight lipped on this one, but we will tell you that is definitely, 100% a horror movie!

As usual, the two lobbies at the theater will be packed to the gills with vendors selling t-shirts, DVD’s, toys, posters and so much more. Interested in being a vendor? Send us an email to info@hudsonhorror.com. Tickets are not needed to shop the vendor’s area, but you will need a ticket to watch the movies.

Just like the last few shows, we will be booked in two different rooms in the same movie theater. One room is already long sold out; tickets are moving fast for the other. It doesn’t matter which room you sit in because both rooms will see the same exact movies, just in a different order. Get your tickets now at www.hudsonhorror.com. Just $38.00 in advance for 12 hours of 35mm movie madness!

We will see you on December 3rd, 2016 for Hudson Horror Show #14! Tickets on sale now at www.hudsonhorror.com.

Hudson Horror Show 13: 35mm Film Festival Announcement

"The Rules of Hudson Horror Show" Trailer:

Official press release:

Now in its sixth year, Hudson Horror Show continues to be the fastest growing retro horror film festival in New York. Fresh off another sold out triple feature at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY, Hudson Horror Show returns to its stomping grounds, the South Hills Cinema 8 in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, May 14th, 2016 for Hudson Horror Show #13! This all day event will start around noon and run past midnight, showing six full length horror/cult movies, all off vintage 35mm film. That’s twelve hours of movie madness for only $35.00! Tickets are exclusively available at www.hudsonhorror.com.

While theater’s around the country are ditching 35mm film in favor of all digital film presentations, Hudson Horror Show recently retro-fitted one of the theaters at South Hills Cinema 8 from digital back to 35mm film! HHS #13 will be held on two screens, but one screen is already sold out, so get your tickets for the remaining theater while you can.

So what are showing in May? Hudson Horror has been threatening to show a blaxploitation movie for years and thanks to our friends at Vinegar Syndrome we are proud to present DOLEMITE!! Be prepared for the Rudy Ray Moore classic which is easily the most politically incorrect movie we’ve ever shown!!

You’ve seen the sequel, now it’s time for the original, Robert Englund’s star turn in 1984’s A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET! With John Saxon, Heather Langenkamp and Johnny Depp this is the movie that turned the slasher genre on its head and made Freddy Krueger a household name.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, HHS presents JAWS 2!!! The giant fish movie that many feels plays like a slasher flick, the shark sequel brings Bruce back to Amityville and the results are just as disastrous. JAWS 2 rarely gets any play theatrically and we are pleased to have this as part of our show.

Presented by The B-Movie Film Vault, we are excited to be screening NIGHTBREED! Clive Barker’s monster mash features more on screen creatures than any other movie ever filmed. The original theatrical cut from Clive Barker is still the most entertaining version of the movie out there and after six years we are pleased to finally have this at a Hudson Horror event.

On top of all that we will have not but TWO MYSTERY HORROR MOVIES!! Want to know what we are showing? Get your tickets and find out!

HHS is thrilled to announce that Louis R. Pisano who co-authored Jaws 2: The Making of the Hollywood Sequel (with Michael A. Smith) will be in attendance! Louis will have copies of this amazing fact filled Jaws book on hand and will be signing at the show.

Of course we’ll have vendors galore with DVD’s, shirts, toys and collector’s items; there will be door prizes, giveaways and so much more. That’s 12 hours of fun for only $35.00 a ticket! Each ticket sold comes with a free Hudson Horror Show/Leatherface sticker spoof sticker. Theater #6 is already sold out; get your tickets for the remaining theater now at www.hudsonhorror.com! If you have any questions shoot us an email at chris@hudsonhorror.com. We’ll see you at the South Hills Cinema 8 in Poughkeepsie on May 14th for Hudson Horror Show #13!

Hudson Horror Show 11 - 35mm Film Festival Announcement

"The Rules of Hudson Horror Show" Trailer:

Official Press Release:

Fresh off a sold out show at the Alamo Drafthouse, Hudson Horror Show returns to the hallowed grounds of the Empire South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, NY! In our sixth year and presented by Vinegar Syndrome and the B Movie Film Vault, Hudson Horror #11 is a 12 hour retro film festival, with all movies being presented from vintage 35mm films.

Show #11 features five full length movies plus dozens of retro trailers and ads, plus vendors selling horror related toys, t-shirts and more! B Movie Film Vault will open the show with A MYSTERY MOVIE! We don’t know what it is, but we know it will be good. OK, maybe it will be bad. But we guarantee it will be fun, and it will off 35mm.

Vinegar Syndrome presents a very special screening of MADMAN! While they have digitally restored this cult slasher for their beautiful new DVD/Blu Ray special edition (which they will have for sale at the show) they will be presenting an original release 35mm print of this long lost shocker! To make it even more special, MADMAN producer Gary Sales and Madman Marz himself, actor Paul Ehlers, will be in attendance to introduce the movie and do a live Q &A!

We love a good revenge story and one of the truly best is Ms. 45! Abel Ferrara’s rape/revenge flick is just as powerful as ever and we are pleased to get this gritty grindhouse meets arthouse classic back up on the big screen at Hudson Horror Show #11.

It’s time to get weird with the awesome awkwardness of NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY’S REVENGE! The first of the many Elm Street sequels is celebrating its 30th anniversary and that makes it high time to bask in its insanity.

We’ll close the show with a whopper of a tale and arguably one of the greatest movies of all time, a special 40th anniversary screening of JAWS! No clean, digital restoration here as in true Hudson Horror style we are presenting a beautifully weathered vintage 35mm film print!

Our last show was a record setting advance sell out and tickets for this show will go on sale Saturday, March 28th, 2015 at 12pm E.S. T. Advance tickets are just $31.00 for 12 hours of movie madness! Click here on March 28th http://www.hudsonhorror.com/purchase-tickets/.

As always we’ll have vendors selling toys, DVD’s, t-shirts and other merchandise. Vinegar Syndrome will be set up selling copies of MADMAN and all of their other DVD’s and Blu Rays. If you are interested in being a vendor, or if you have a question about the show, shoot us an email at info@hudsonhorror.com. Keep watching our website and Facebook page for more info and we’ll see you on Saturday, June 13th, 2015 for Hudson Horror Show#11!

Hudson Horror Show 8

Official press release:

Hudson Horror Show is proud to announce our full lineup for the Hudson Valley’s horror and exploitation film festival, Hudson Horror Show. HHS #8 will be on Saturday, November 16th 2013, at Silver Cinemas South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, NY. Doors open at noon, show starts at 1PM.

Headliner #1 is the 1981 sci-fi/action classic ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK. John Carpenter directed one of the most amazing genre casts ever featuring Ernest Borgnine, Donald Pleasance, Isaac Hayes, Harry Dean Stanton, Adrienne Barbeau, Tom Atkins, Lee Van Cleef and of course Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken, who we all heard was dead.

Headliner #2 is the 1982 horror/sci-fi thrill ride JOHN CARPENTER’S THE THING. Carpenter and Russell teamed up again for one of the scariest films ever made, which boasts the amazing creature and special effects from Rob Bottin. 30 years after both Carpenter classics were originally released, we are thrilled to present these movies the way they were meant to be seen, off real 35mm film!

If the alien from The Thing doesn't scare the pants off you, well, you just might want to take your pants off anyway for INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS. Starring cult film icon William Smith (Red Dawn, Grave of the Vampire) and the beautiful Anitra Ford (Big Bird Cage) this sci-fi/horror/exploitation hybrid has the sexiest murdering space aliens ever seen. With a fun script written by Nicholas Meyer (who later wrote and directed Star Trek II and Star Trek VI), INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS is one of the best “B” movies ever made.

Next stop is Poughkeepsie for the runaway train that is the HORROR EXPRESS! Starring Christopher Lee, Telly Savalas and Peter Cushing, this British/Spanish co-production mixes the Goth trappings of Hammer Studios with the blood and sexiness of Euro cult films. If you only see one movie with a frozen ape monster that shoots laser beams from his eyes and turns people into zombies while on a train, HORROR EXPRESS is it!

The fifth movie for the show will be a MYSTERY HORROR MOVIE! No kidding around this time, it won’t be blaxploitation or a giant monster movie, it’s a full on horror movie. But you’ll have to come to the show to find out what it is!

Our last show was a complete sell out and tickets for this show are already selling faster than ever before. Don’t miss it, get your tickets now! Advance tickets are just $26.00. Click here to order: http://www.hudsonhorror.com/purchase-tickets/. If any tickets remain the day of show, they will be available for $30.00, cash only.

As always we’ll have vendors selling toys, DVD’s, t-shirts and all other merchandise. If you are interested in being a vendor, or if you have a question about the show, shoot us an email at info@hudsonhorror.com. Keep watching our website and Facebook page for more info, and we’ll see you on Saturday, November 16th 2013 for Hudson Horror Show 8!

Hudson Horror Show 666 - 35mm Film Festival Announcement

Official press release:

On Saturday, December 1st, 2012 (12-1-12), Hudson Horror Show 666 will present a whopping six movies (for the price of five) along with shorts and vintage trailers, all off rare 35mm films. It’s a massive, sweaty 12 hour explosion of horror and exploitation!

This is by the far the biggest and most diverse lineup of movies we have ever presented. The show starts and heaven will be torn asunder as you run from, THE DEVIL’S RAIN! Starring Ernest Borgnine, William Shatner, Tom Skerrit, and an appearance by John Travolta, this is the coolest of the Satan Chic classics from the 70’s.

One of the greatest exploitation movies of all time, SWITCHBLADE SISTERS, tells the story of the Dagger Debs, the tough as nails girl gang whose members were hot as hell. Quentin Tarantino loves this movie, but hasn’t quite stolen from it yet!

Not many sequels can equal their predecessors, but PHANTASM II is one of the few. With more action, more midgets, and well, more balls, Phantasm II shatters the myth that all sequels suck.

There are no midgets in RE-ANIMATOR, but director Stuart Gordon’s unrated bloodbath has just about everything else. Mad scientists, zombies, talking heads and the most insane oral sex scene ever committed to celluloid, this film is cinematic proof that Jeffrey Combs got robbed of a best actor Oscar in 1985.

Sound the trumpets of Crom, after 30 years; the original CONAN THE BARBARIAN makes it triumphant return to the big screen! Forget the boring, anemic remake; Arnold Schwarzenegger’s breakout film delivers more blood, blades and boobs than most vintage slasher films.

Speaking of slasher films, what’s a Hudson Horror Show without one? Have no fear as our mystery movie is now revealed to be the original BLACK CHRISTMAS. Again, screw the remake; this is the original yuletide horror classic from 1974, which many claim to be the very first true slasher film. And any movie starring John Saxon just kicks major ass!

Be sure to bring extra cash as we will have vendors selling more wares than ever before. Comic books, movie posters, super cool magnets, rare DVD’s, t-shirts, artwork and more will up for grabs at HH666. Horror author Jason Gehlert will even be in attendance signing copies of his brand spanking new book, Jeremiah Black. This book sounds even sicker and more twisted than Jason’s other works, for all of his info go to www.facebook.com/jason.gehlert.

Advance tickets are $26.00 in advance at our website, if any day tickets remain, they will be $30.00 at the door day of show, cash only. Doors open at noon, show starts at 1PM and runs until 12AM. One ticket gets you entry in and out all day long.

For more information on the show, head to www.hudsonhorror.com or email us at info@hudsonhorror.com. Advance tickets are going quick and are only on sale until Monday, November 26th at 11:59PM. Get your tickets now! We’ll see you on 12-1-12!!

Interested in becoming a vendor at the next show? Just shoot us an email to info@hudsonhorror.com.

Have a Happy Halloween!

JAWSFEST: The Tribute

Fans of the movie JAWS© across the world are gearing up for JAWSFEST: The Tribute, taking place August 9-12 on Martha’s Vineyard, aka, “Amity Island.” The event will explore how the making of JAWS has impacted the lives of those who came to Amity in 1974 and how the blockbuster film they created continues to impact lives today. The tribute will concentrate on the men and women of JAWS who have passed, with special focus on Peter Benchley, Roy Scheider, and Robert Shaw.

The event includes LIVING JAWS, a series of lively and engaging discussions with event VIPs on the making of JAWS and how the film impacted their lives and families in the 1970s to the present; BEHIND THE SCREAMS, a museum-quality display of private collections of JAWS photographs and memorabilia from the filming, including items from private collections and other never-before-seen items; SHARK IN THE PARK, an afternoon of family activities, the opportunity to meet with VIPs, and more; SHARKS, ARTS & CONSERVATION, an “event within an event” presented in collaboration with Featherstone Center for the Arts that includes the opportunity to meet with globally recognized shark experts such as Dr. Greg Skomal and members of Shark Savers and Discovery Channel Shark Week; a TRIVIA HUNT and RANDOM RE-ENACTMENTS; and THE TRIBUTE & JAWS ON THE BIG SCREEN on beautiful Ocean Park, Oak Bluffs, with very special intros and our full roster of VIPs present.

The event coincides with Universal Studios’ 100th Anniversary celebration and the August 14th release of JAWS on Blu-ray, featuring a fully restored and digitally remastered picture. JAWSFEST also coincides with the 25th anniversary of Discovery Channel’s Shark Week. Experts from Shark Week and Shark Savers are helping the JAWSFEST team turn 2012 into the Summer for the Sharks on Martha's Vineyard - a season-long initiative to raise funds and awareness to help with shark conservation.

“JawsFest ’05 was incredibly successful and had a much greater reach than we ever anticipated, with fans showing up en masse from around the world - many in character,” said Susan Sigel Goldsmith, event co-director from 2005 and producer of the 2012 event. “As JAWS continues to entertain new generations of audiences around the world, we’re thrilled to give fans a unique event experience in Martha’s Vineyard that they will never forget.”
